The Need for Food Safety Legislation



Erik Olson of Pew Charitable Trusts, talked about a coalition of food safety groups who are asking the U.S. Senate to take up food safety legislation similar to one already passed by the U.S. House of Representatives, why there is such a push for action on this legislation, the cost of foodborne illnesses in the U.S., and what this legislation would do to help prevent the problem. Afterward, governors talked about state and federal strategies for improving children's access to healthy nutrition.
